Hi. I think you mean you do not want to cut the top surface, just the features below the top. In this case you can set the start height of the cutting process to be a small amount below the top surface. Yes the MDX-40 spindle is under spring pressure, so there is a small movement if you press the spindle down from the top.
As it pops up, that is OK.

Hello This sounds like you have run out of cutting stroke. If you say the Z is at 152mm when starting, then the maximum you can cut is 3mm. Some positive news.
The EGX-400/600 was the basis of this machine, so as the EGX-400/600 was just discontinued production this year, then there should be those common parts available, within reason, till about 2023. That said, I do not know of any of our AC axis motors failing. :)

Thanks for the update, I had not seen that before, hence it is not a Roland product, but a Techsoft one.

Make sure you install the correct Roland drivers for your PC http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/download.html , then choose cutting and your CAMM-1. Then you can check in "Printers & Devices" control panel.
