Engraving uneven surface

At the end of my tether with this. There must be a solution to engraving uneven surfaces. By uneven I don't mean bumpy I mean a gentle variation in surface height. What ever happened to the ZCS-1 piezo sensor? I can't justify a new machine when this one works so well at everything else. Looks like I...

Re: Retro Fit with MPX-90 head?

Always worth asking - it might have been easy. Not that anything is every easy.

It could have been that the voltages going to the spindle were translatable to the engraving head...

Retro Fit with MPX-90 head?

Is there any way to retrofit an existing machine with a MPX-90 head?

Re: Engraving depth by spindle speed not Z height

I'm not sure what you mean? Would a different motor react faster? Lets pretend I am cutting fresh air. I'm just wondering how quickly a motor can respond to a speed change maybe between 9000rpm and 10000rpm and back again on each line of code. My lowly TS-400 can be told to change the spindle speed ...

Engraving depth by spindle speed not Z height

Is it possible on a Roland machine? Can the spindle react quick enough to rapid changes in speed? For the sake of argument I'll say I have a spring loaded spindle that gives a constant positive pressure on the work surface. As I move along the surface at a constant speed I will get a very faint line...

Engraving Granite - surface tolerance - tilted Z axis?

This is aimed at you clever Roland industry types :D I can engrave granite no problem with the TS-400 using a PCD bit. Actually - normal carbide bits work quite well too! I'm actually trying to 'photo v carve' an image. The issue though is that the stone is not 100% flat. If I'm only engraving 0.1mm...

Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E - Stopped working - help!

Sounds like it's beyond repair to me - I'll give you £50 for it! ;) What happens when you switch the machine on? Is it actually powering up? Can you hear the fan? If you pop the rear cover off you'll at least be able to see if there's any leds lit on the motherboard. Don't go probing anything though...

Christmas present - Rotary Axis ZCL-40a or self centre vice

Surely someone has a Rotary Axis ZCL-40a or self centre vice lying around they don't use anymore? That's all I want for Christmas :P
