Re: automatic generation of cut marks

why not generate the artwork and the cut data as separate files? There are a number of command-line tools to automate the overlaying of one PDF file over another (merging them, effectively). The normal use is to add watermarks, etc, to documents but it should work for your purpose too.

Re: CutStudio Plugins

I gave up with Cut Studio years ago! Fortunately the newer cutters can operate with VersaWorks (if you also have a Roland printer installed), either on a dedicated Windows machine (which you can run headless & connect to via Screen Sharing on your Mac) or via Parallels on your Mac.

Re: Variable Data - Drawback!

Variable Data is a great tool for quick & simple tasks but has a lot of limitations. Both Illustrator & InDesign offer data-driven fields which might be worth looking into. I generally go down the route of scripting in Illustrator which gives you unlimited control over layout but obviously needs a b...

Re: LEF blurred printing

IMG_6197 (1).JPG I did the CMYK blocks earlier as I read that suggestion from you on another thread, that test comes out perfectly. I have had a quick look at the belt & double gear, belt looks fine, double gear looks like it's missing a couple of teeth though, I can't imagine it's meant to be like...

Re: LEF blurred printing

it looks like the size of the stepped/blurred print area is the same as the distance the total print is undersized by... is it possible the table is snagging somehow at this point as it moves from the front to the back of the machine? If so, how would I check/correct? clean belts, cogs, etc, look fo...

Re: Write on 'Vinyl'?

We also use Digisol for that sometimes (as well as other applications). However most matt (rather than gloss) vinyls can also be written on with a biro which is a cheaper alternative.

Re: ink channel not printing

ok, I am trying to revisit this problem now! The machine still prints (and works every day) but obviously the quality is not 100%! Attached is the test print. The missing yellow channel sorted itself out, so I'm just left with the original missing cyan channel still. What might be causing this? Air ...

Re: LEF blurred printing

IMG_6192.JPG ok, here is the test print as suggested! This is on 5mm foam, securely fixed with a Roland adhesive sheet. The x-distance is 100mm as expected, the y-distance is a bit short, about 99.25mm. Does this tell us anything? Also the test print pattern shows a fair bit of drop out now (which ...

Re: LEF blurred printing

thanks for the replies. I'll do a test print & upload it today. The picture was taken with the print bed, so the top of the writing is towards the front of the machine. It's possible the media moved, it was taped down but only lightly. Would that produce this kind of print defect? However, it happen...

Re: Destructible or void material for solvent print

that would totally ruin the point of the destructible material!

I have had great success using ultra destruct material in the past. Can't remember exactly where I got it but probably All Print Supplies in the UK. They have some listed on their website, only matt/gloss or clear though, not silver.
