If the item you are impacting on gives off any dust or swarf, then the nosecone can pick this up and cause the scratching, try cleaning the nosecone with a brush after each print.

You should perform a pump up first to drain the ink inside the machine, as any ink leaking in the movement process can cause internal damage.

The file corruption is usually down to temporary files, perform a disk cleanup and delete the temp files, also delete the files from the queues, before doing this.

If it continues then I would suggest running off separate pc's.

If you have the Windows driver installed you could output using the Roland software like Dr. Engrave to determine if the machine is running correctly.

Can you check if the feed for dry option turned on, as this may interfere with the function.

From the image it looks like it is not hitting the material hard enough to make a mark, or that the nose cone is catching the surface.

How does it look when you engrave on other items such as stainless steel?

When Trying to connect to the SC-545EX, ensure you are using a crossover network cable, run the machine direct to the PC, then set the network to Obtain automatically, you should then be able to use intercon net tool (Printserver Net Tool) to see the IP address of the machine, then from the IP menu ...

The font needs to be a TrueType not an open font for it to work, you could use Corel or Illustrator to convert to outlines and import in.
