What colour configuration, 4 or 7?

Post by DavyStevenson » Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:59 am

Hi, We've been having some serious issues with our XR640 to such an extent that the guys we purchased it from are going to change it for us. This is our 2nd XR640 to be returned so we've decided to go for a totally different configuration. basically we are going for a separate printer and cutter, a Soljet EJ640 and a GR-640 cutter.

The big question is should we go for 4 colour or 7 colour. I realise the 7 colour will give us a wider color gamut whereas the 4 colours will give us a faster print speed. The majority of our work is vehicle graphics / signage which to an extent aren't colour critical.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks
Davy

It really depends on the kind of images, if it's just spot colour work and the occasional image I would look at the CMYK option, mainly because of the speed and especially if banners are involved.

Hi Kia, We've just ordered the 7 colour version. After discussing where we'd like our business to go we've decided to go for quality over quantity. We still have our 4 colour sp540 here which churns out banner and basic stickers all day long so will use the new printer for higher quality work.

Thanks for your advice,
Davy
