Post by Negg » Thu Mar 16, 2017 8:40 pm

hi all , yhis may sound daft but ive a vs 540 i running cmyk lc lm white and has a cleaning cartrage in where the metallic goes , my question is can let this run empty and break the tab off the empty cleaning cratrage so the printer thinks it has some in ?so in theory the metallic line has been flushed with cleaner and can i let this just run dry ? i cant see the point on keep buying cleaner for no reason thanks

The head cannot run dry so no, all chambers must be filled. You'll have to keep a cartridge with at least some ink installed at all times.

No, you can use any ink cartridge if you like. You would have to shake an actual ink cartridge every couple of weeks as it's only used when cleaning and the pigment would set in the bottom.

You'd just have to swap the chips and cut the key tabs because the machine only runs with the "correct" cartridge in the slot.
