Realistic raster from roland spot colours

Post by Negg » Mon Jun 19, 2017 12:26 pm

Hi all
I use roland spot colours in files for print all good and works but what would be the best way to make up a jpeg image to display on the web to match the actual printed item ? If i just make a jpeg from the spot colours it displays wrong on the web , so i guess i need the rgb equivalent to the roland spot colour ??

Hmm...fundamentally tricky thing to do. Screens will all show colour differently, unless all calibrated-which never will be with visitors to sites. The Roland spot colour theory relates to printed output only. You could try and find a best match in RGB, but never going to be a true match- additive and subtractive colours! Without having an 'order a printed swatch' option, and making the spot colours a download I'd just have a disclaimer for colour accuracy.

What you are asking is fundementally impossible, the spot colour will vary per substrate as well . . . .
Whatever your software is, just open up the spot colour, change the CMYK to RGB and it will give you the RGB or Hex values for the spot colour.
