Changing LEF-20 to Primer

Post by PhillyDee » Tue Feb 21, 2017 11:22 am

Hallo all, I am very very tempted to change the configuration from CMYK+gl+wh to CMYK+Pr+Wh
What will this cost and what does it involve?

I currently mainly use the glass as a primer on glass (use it as a matte varnish). Does printing with a primer make it faster? Of course, I lose the gloss effects etc, but to be honest, it is not something I currently use really!

Whats the primer like on metals and glass? Any examples? It would also be used on acrylics, I know its quite a new feature, but im sure someone will know :D

Hiya,

With regards to adding primer to the machine it would be best to contact your Roland dealer or the Roland offices to find out what's possible.
As you said thew primer is pretty new and we haven't run that many internal tests just yet!
The primer (as with any) will have strengths on certain materials over others, so best to arrange a visit for testing, or send in some samples.

Cheers

Primer on order, so it is getting done at some point :)
Ive had a couple of test pieces from a LEF-300 and the acrylic adhesion is great.

how do you do that? will you insert primer as Gloss but VersaWorks doesn't let you print Gloss + CMYK. you should print primer as gloss first, then print whatever you want. right?

With the latest firmware (2.4) and versaworks DUAL you can have different machine configurations, so primer is now an option on the machines (as is dual white IIRC).
To print first, its sent as 2 different jobs, so you could varnish first using special effects, then print CMYK.

You can download VersaWorks Dual from this website

The conversion needs to carried out by an engineer.

Yup, my primer is due in the end of April, theres a delay on the shipment apparently, so its not due until 24th.

An engineer is getting booked in after this date. My dealer is sorting it out.
