BN-20 Printing with White Ink

Post by jneeny » Wed Mar 01, 2017 5:05 pm

Help please!!!

Is there a simple easy to follow guide to using white ink on BN-20. I cannot get it to work and its driving me nuts! I have set a square to RDG_WHITE in Coreldraw, saved it as .eps imported it into Versaworks Dual, it shows a white drop under special items and then prints nothing!

What am i doing wrong?!

In Versaworks, there should be a pink hatching where the white will print, is this in the correct area? If so, it sounds like versaworks is fine. Hows the nozzle check etc?

How long have you had the machine? have you been shaking the cartridge daily?

I have a similar issue here, I got the printer last monday and tried since then but it just isn´t printing white.
I already thought I am too dumb to set up the file correctly but no matter if I use RDG_WHITE or replace the spot color in Versaworks.
The pink pattern is shown in Versaworks but neither "generic vinyl" or "generic clear film" lead to any white printing.

Sadly the nozzle check print doesn´t print white so it can´t be tested with that.

I got mixed cartdridges CMYK MAX3 and White MAX2 with the printer, I hope thats not the problem?

Same question, how is the nozzle check, and are the white carts being shaken every day?

Hmm, there is no nozzle check print for white, at least I assume that because only CMYK gets printed. My vendor told me to shake the cartridges, so yes I did that though it already felt stupid after the third attempt of printing white.

Alright I just did a strong cleaning twice and now it looks much better on brown paper. That is a bit curious because the machine got its setup cleaning when installed, obviously that is not enough :-/

If you don't shake the white every day (or thereabouts) the pigments settle in the ink, so all you essentially get is it printing with the fluid and no pigments. Only the white needs this shaking. It sounds like they have settled, hence why it needs to be done every day, especially before the first print of the day.

Correct. The printer automatically cleans, sucking the clear carrier fluid from the cartridge, circulating it in the machine diluting the white ink. Once you have used up much of the carrier fluid you need to replace the white cartridge as the remaining ink in it would be too thick (less fluid, more pigment) ands may clog something.
