White ink (ECO-UV) for Lef-20 is not pure white

Post by lumifab » Mon Jun 05, 2017 7:40 pm

Hello ink specialists,

I can't help but notice the white ink, even multi layered, is not very bright. It looks like a 5% gray to me. We use it on clear acrylic as a backing coat, and the overall colors don't punch much because of this. We tested applying white paint instead of using the white ink over the colors and we can see a big improvement (=not linked to color profiles).

We have used 4 or 5 white cartridge to date, and this 'problem' is consistent. Is this anyone can help me with ?

thanks in advance!

Also, I should add the white prints are on the yellow-ish side.

Not sure what you mean but Roland OEM UV ink is amonth the whitest (if not THE) of UV inks.

Are you shaking your cartridge every day?

Ive never noticed a problem, and in fact, 2 coats is the ideal amount. I print onto clear all the time.

:?

Yes, I do the ink shaking ceremony daily... In a way, I am glad the ink comes out good according to other printers. I just have to find what is wrong on mine!

Did some tests. For the white ink layer, I seem to get a little more coverage when using "White (V) HD" instead of "White (V)".

In the manual, is mentioned another setting called "High-Opacity White", which I don't see in my version of Versaworks (5.5.1). Could this be my problem?

What Quality/Mode settings do you guys use for opaque white ?

thanks

HQ HD should be thick and bright white.

This is a pic of tests with 2-3 layers white ink. The acrylic piece is flat on a piece of white cardstock. There is definitely a yellow tint!
Strange.

Okay. You may have an internal leak in the white/gloss head.
