Roland XR640 Print head scuffing media

Post by PrintTeam » Wed Oct 04, 2017 3:22 pm

Hi,

I have an issue with the print head (set in the low position height) scuffing the media. Initially I noticed the head dislodging the media clamps and assumed they were bent so purchased new ones but discovered the print head still catches even on new media clamps.

I also noticed the head catches the media and scuffs the print. Is there a default setting that ISN'T adjust head height to resolve the issue? We do have a roland care package in place but thought I may get a quicker response through the forum? Thanks.

Are you sure it’s the printhead scuffing the media? Usually it’s the head guard frame which needs to be cleaned.

If i take the media clips out and have the vacuum on strong the machine runs fine. If I put the clips in though both get knocked and that's with brand new clips. I thought the new clips would resolve the issue.

I'll wait and see what the engineer says/does next week. It's reassuring to have the care plan! We've called them out a few times for various issues with caps/pumps/heads/cutting (dodgy cable) recently and service has been spot on.

It could be we need to clean the frame as mentioned above.
