SRP Player vs Modela Player

Post by Lerser » Sat Jul 08, 2017 4:57 pm

Hello Patrick ,

I use two very old MDX40, one with ZCL40A and I have different questions :

- Can I make one indexed flat cut with ZCL40A and SRP Player like Modela Player ?

- Is't possible to re-import the STL file without losing the machining program with SRP Player like Modela Player ?

Actualy, I use ZCL40A with with sacrifical bed for machining the part like the picture see inclosed

If you look carefully you will be able to recognize the machine that is used ;)

Thank you for your next answers

Best regards

Serge

Hi
With rotary axis installed in SRP Player - Preferences - Cutting machine
tab 2 Type of milling, set the to "Block Workpiece" = "Cut top and bottom"

tab 3 Create tool path, "Edit" next to "Create Tool Path"
You can edit or delete the defined roughing and finishing and have them set to any angle to make cutting, like you showed.

Hello Patrick,
Unfortunately with SRP Player is not possible to modify Offset from the center of the model with "Cut top and bottom". Only with Cylindrical Workpiece but not possible to make a indexed flat cut in this mode. I you see the picture "Problem with SRP", the machining path is adjusted on the center of the model and not on one face of the model ).
It is really good to be able to adjust the offset of the center of the model with Modela Player, because when you change the tool or lenge of tool, it is enough to center on the Y axis with Vpanel and the sensor Z0 integrated to the 4th axis ZCL40A, and can be started directly at the next machining. To be integrated during the next update of SRP Player, with re-import fonction of STL model file ?

Serge
I see what you mean.
ModelaPlayer and SRP Player may look similar in many ways, but are written by completely different companies for Roland and uses different calculating engines.
Therefore you cannot use the rotary functions in the same way, the datum is at the centre of the axis.
Also in ModelPlayer, the Open STL can reload a different model, but SRP Player cannot without making a new project.
The latest SRP Player has many updates, but the feature's you want are not any of them.

Hello Patrick,
Thanks for your reply, actually I was not sure if I was using all the functions of SRP Player and Model Player correctly and for what I wanted to do.
I am really happy to use Roland machines. My machines are TS-30 produced in 2005 and 2006, I worked a bit to update and install a 4th axis ZCL40A.
These machines are really solid and reliable, I am never down, I can only recommend the future buyers of MDX40A or MDX50, they will be really happy with their purchase, and the SRP Player & Modela Player programs are very practical and easy to use.
Thank you for your help and your support
Best regards
Serge

Hi Serge
Glad you are pleased and are happy to share this information.
Just for you to know some clients can exhaust the facilities of ModelaPlayer and SRPPlayer, and therefore use other CAM packages, like Vectric.com, Fusion360 and many others. Using some of these can expand the capabilities of our machines and increase your productivity.
MDX-40A is a current model we supply, where the new MDX-50 offers a larger work area, faster production and an automatic tool changer.
So both machines offer clients affordable solutions with options to have rotary axis as well.
Thank you using our forum.
Best regards
Patrick
