No and yes :D The machine connects to computer via USB. The serial connector was connected to a switch on the machines original housing (missing I presume?) - if the door wasn't closed the machine wouldn't work. So - you've got to short out a few wires on the serial connector in place of a switch.

I'll try find a pic of inside serial connector...

Ah I see - that makes sense!
Well guessed - no housing unfortunately. The person I got it from gave me all they had. It may well be that they didn't realise they needed the housing either.

Tidy looking machine - especially for the price!! You'll find out how many hours the spindle has had in Vpanel somewhere.

I'll split the connector and get the wiring - took a photo for someone else on here but seems to be gone. Hopefully once you get that fitted it'll be fully functional :D

Sorry paolo8453 I don't seem able to reply to your PM - keeps getting stuck in Outbox - arg! Here's my reply:

This is fantastic, thank you!! Perfect timing too - I have a day off tomorrow so plenty of time to play.

So just so I'm clear, this is a serial plug you have taken apart, connected the relevant pins and plugged it in?

Thank you so much for this - I'll keep you posted on progress.... :D
