Post by logoink » Thu Sep 13, 2012 2:35 pm

Hi,

I have just been asked if i can cover the topt half of a Fiesta wing mirror in vinyl, and I am fairly new to this game so can anyone tell me the best way to do it so dont get creases/folds in the vinyl?

Regards

Hi Mike,

Is the vinyl digitally printed or just a plain colour vinyl?

Either way a cast vinyl would be used, if it is to be digitally printed then a matched laminate for the material would have to be applied.

With the cast vinyl, you will be able to heat it to pull it around the shape of the mirror.

Mike,

Have a look at our Roland Academy page, we currently run the Intermediate Digital Print Course where we discuss a range of topics around getting the most out of your machine.

The academy also offer vehicle wrapping courses which will teach you how to apply vinyl and vehicle wrapping.

Hi Kai,

I have done the Intermediate Digital Print Course, which was excellent and I'm going try to get on the other one ASAP as it is the hands on training I need the most.

I have been on the Vehicle wrapping course, its 2 days and on the second day we wrapped the wing mirror of a smart car!
The best advice I can give is to take your time, use heat and conform to the corners of the wing mirrors.
It took me a few tries but i got there.

Highly recommend doing the course!
