Make sure you have a free feed of media when printing. Looks like there's some restriction.

Ok, you mean the banding all over the image? I thought you were talking about the faint lighter bands in the middle. I assume the picture here is at 90 degree angle.

The banding all over the image is either one or combination of the following things:

1) Media not compatible with ink (rare nowdays)
2) Media profile does not match the media and printing conditions (frequent problem)
3) Printing speed too high for the media type (frequent problem)
4) Printer/Dryer temperature too high or low for the media or ink type (happens quite often)
5) Feed calibration (how much the printer advances the media between head passes) off (frequent problem)

There may be smth other than listed but it's very unlikely.

Hi Mrtn

Sorry for barging in (Newbie) but how do you determine what should be correct for (Where can I gain info on this below) So far I was just lucky

1) Media profile does not match the media and printing conditions (frequent problem)
2) Printing speed too high for the media type (frequent problem)
3) Printer/Dryer temperature too high or low for the media or ink type (happens quite often)
4) Feed calibration (how much the printer advances the media between head passes) off (frequent problem)

I have downloaded and read a lot of things and did quite a lot of printing but when it gets to high quality photos and vinyl prints I struggle to get the end-result others are acvhieving

I use CorelDraw and then print via versaworks on a Roland VP540i with bulk eco ink system. Printer is in a controlled environment (aircon)

Due to my location it is extremely difficult to get any technical assistance (650) km from nearest Business hub. Lucky thing is I have one small competitor so business is good.

1) Media profile does not match the media and printing conditions (frequent problem)

Try different profiles from different suppliers

2) Printing speed too high for the media type (frequent problem)

Lower printing speed, higher number of passes, lower head speed.

3) Printer/Dryer temperature too high or low for the media or ink type (happens quite often)

Keep heater temp as low as possible: PRE 32, PRINT 35, DRY 40.

4) Feed calibration (how much the printer advances the media between head passes) off (frequent problem)

You can adjust it in CALIBRATION menu.

Hi guys,

New to this forum so I hope I am posting in the right area?

Basically I bought a 2nd hand Roland Sp540v machine and it has been working fine for the few weeks but today it started acting up as I tried to print on banner material and pvc banner and fading lines started appearing.

There is 3 different banner profiles, generic, svpc and block out.

The is also different out put settings pre press us, Europe, sign and display etc

I cleaned manually and powerful cleaned the heads. Is the temperature too high?

It was set too 45 each side and 49 dry. I restored to factory default settings and going to try in the morning again.

Any help on this ?
i am on my phone, how do upload a photo of what I am asking about?

Please read my post right above yours.

plus:

1) Your temp is way too high
2) Use Sign & Display as the default preset. It's the suitable for anything.
