Best place to buy the blank garments

Post by Newbie Kev » Mon Sep 19, 2011 8:10 pm

A bit new to this game, and not yet kicked off. But was wondering where the best place to buy the "blank" garments for printing t-shirts, sweatshirts, bags etc. Any help appreciated?

Also - another "new to it" question - How do you make sure you get the logo / image in the centre of the shirt - is there any software or do you use a ruler or just judgement?

Hi Kev,

You will probably find the best people to talk to for blank garments are one of the main distributors, such as BTC, Pencarrie, Ralawise or UKL (UK Leisurewear).

They are all 'trade only' so to speak and do not sell to the general public so price wise, they are very competitive. I am sure they will advise you on the best way to go.

Lining up is all by eye, but don't worry, you soon get used to it and it is not as hard as you may think.

Luke,

That's brilliant - thanks for the help. I'm sure I'll get the hang of lining it up straight - might practice on the cheaper garments though!

Kev, you will before long have what every garment decoration company has....the testing shirt. This will be covered with heat transfers, embroidery and other ways of decorating clothing. Some will pressed correctly, others back to front with some even being upside down. You have to do these tests to get it right and learn!
If positioning heat transfers is a concern for you, some of the cuttable and printable medias have a self adhesive carrier sheet which will allow you to place you transfer on the garment, hold up the shirt and check that the positioning is correct for your customer.
It is a learning cutve, but you do learn fast. Good Luck.

Kev, I have one customer who has kept all his test shirts and has them framed in his workshop as a year by year hall of fame.
