Which Heat press?

Post by Adam Wyles » Wed Dec 07, 2011 6:31 pm

Afternoon all,
Lots of questions on the Forum recently regarding heat presses, issues, best one to use, etc. So I had a thought, lets see what you all use and if we can help each other.

If you do select "Other" please let us know what you have.

i have a large clam but if buying again will want a swing i think my knuckles will appreciate it, only problem, they take twice as much operating space.
either that or stop doing multi colour stuff.

17 year old (obtained second hand, 3years ago) Adkins 15" swing press. Got it free with an embroidery machine (in lou of embroidery design software i already had). Had problems with the timer micro switch (sorted for pence with a new one) and the rubber feet are all but gone (one of these day I'll put some new ones on) but apart from that it's ace.

I thought of buying a selection of exchangable platens for it, but after a recent demo by Siser at Grafityp I realised I don't need to. I just need heat proof packing to suit different items being pressed.

After telling everyone my press fab at 17 years old I have now broken it :-( The large pin adjacent to the timer indicator has snapped... It still works, but it's just a matter of time before it fails alltogether.

I need a new one.... Pin that is, not press!!

Pins are available from Adkins and their stockists like us, that one would be the Inner pin from the description. Do not use it with a bust pin you can cause more damage, In a panic use a bit of 12mm Bar so the pivots work. the actual pins are I think case hardened .
