Black and key black printed as dark purple problem

Post by ajnrefurbs » Thu Oct 26, 2017 1:39 pm

Hi.
On the RS 640, we've had this problem lately:

Using either original cartridge or compatible ones, the black prints as dark purple.
This also messes up all other colors containing gray or black. Including key (K).

How can it be fixed?

Do you use the correct Color palette for your Printer and have disabled Spot color converting?

If not, the Black will be mixed off the CMY.
Only The Roland Spot colors correctly use the Black.
They have special names, so using the Roland palette is mandatory.
Or you must add the needed Black/Grey Spot colors WITH THEIR CORRECT SPECIAL NAMES manually.

This also applies to White.

@Kai Perry - nozzle test attached.

@ichbinsnur - Yes. For EPS, no spot color converting was selected.
Also, when exporting to PDF, Corel Draw X5 does not show an available ticker box for spot color converting.

Note: In the first attachment, C, M, Y and K are 100%, and the last black box is every color at 100%.
Also, the longer bottom rectangle should've been a gray pattern instead of dark purple.

Did you use the Roland Palette for VersaWorks (dual?) in Corel for the spot Black and Grey tones as i mentioned?
Do you use CMYK for the colors instead of RGB?
AFAIK Corels own RGB and CMYK palettes don't work correctly with grey and black.

Yes, everything seems to be correct.

On this latest attachment is the result, as follows:

- left top image - part of the printed graphics resulted (dark purple instead of gray shades)
- left bottom - zoomed in on the printed graphics resulted (light grays are wrongly outputed as light purple)
- right side - the original graphics file (background should be almost grayscale when printed)

That is the issue. (attached image) Any feedback on that is apreciated.

Do you have Sign & Display or Density Control Only selected as colour management in Versaworks?
