Gray turns into purple

Post by maxx0612 » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:55 am

Hello everybody,

i am new in this forum so hello to you all, my English may not be perfect because i am from the Netherlands. I have a problem with a Roland SP 540 V and we cant find out what the problem is. We bought a secondhands printer and the old owners showed us everything and it was printing good. Now we have to following problem, when we print on canvas or transfer foil, even on banner the gray color turns purple, we tryed all the profiles from Roland itself, we even used profiles given from the manufactur of the materials. The printer is using the Eco sol max 3 inkt and we think thats the problem. The rest of the colors are fine ( i guess) .

Do we do something wrong or do we have to go back to the first eco solvent inkt if that is possible

Thanks already for giving advice

Best regards

Maxx

When printing Grey with a four colour system the machine will struggle to make a perfect grey, you can save the file in photoshop and covert it to Greyscale, then in VersaWorks use the Density Control colour managemnet, this will give the best output, but due to the profile and the way it prints it is likely that you get a hue, or if you use daylight bulbs the print will look green.

Newer machines have the Light Black ink which can print a true grey.

Is it vector or bitmap work? What colour management settings are you using?

first of all thanks for the reply.

Every profile gives a puple gray color, now I have to say that the printheads are also not a 100% anymore, could that be the problem also, I guess not because its a color problem not a print quality problem.
Vector and PDF they all have the same problem
Colormanagment I use pre-press Europe, but if I use Density control only for instance it gives the same result
And mr Kai, I use illustror instead of photoshop, how can I convert it into grey printing

You would need a raster based program to convert it to Grayscale, try downloading a demo of Photoshop.

Why are you using Max 3 ink? It's not designed for this machine.

Max 3 inkt was already installed when I bought it, if I buy 2 new printheads can I go back to the first version of the eco sol maxx ink, or is this not reversible?

You can go back to Max any time. Or stay with Max 3 and make daily maintenance (manual cleaning).
