XF-640 Pinch Roller pressure

Post by KSPRoland » Tue Jul 25, 2017 9:32 am

Hi all,
We have just had an XF-640 printer installed where i work.
I am finding that the pinch rollers are marking the Avery MPI-3000 media that we print
The pressure appears to be too high and if the media is stopped for 15 minutes or more, then all the rollers leave a depression in the media surface.
Any tips at all would be very welcome
Would cleaning help?
Can the pinch roller pressure be adjusted?

It's not adjustable (without major work). Are you sure it's a depression mark? Sometimes fresh rollers may leave a mark before they pick up enough dust to smoothen the rubber surface.

Hi,
thank you for the reply
Its a depression, so i'm assuming its pressure related - I have a pic i could send you
I'm guessing that taking the pre heat temperature down a bit might help i guess? - make the media a bit less pliable?

Yes, as low as possible. Depression marks are usually caused by thick and soft adhesive rather than the media itself.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you.

On a separate note, our printer has been supplied without media guides - can you put me in touch with someone who can supply new ones?

You mean the magnetic clamps to prevent media crashes?

Any Roland dealer can supply these.

Thanks for your reply - really handy
We have media clamps fitted now, :)

Another question;
When the Roland prints to the end of roll, it displays the message 'End of sheet' then 'lift dancer roller to rear'
Do you know what this is referring to?

It means take off the media take-up tension. Just lift the dancer roller.

You can then hold the media and unload it. You can manually gather it to the take-up.
