Joe's 3 C's (#47) 'Time to Play...'

Post by Joe Wigzell » Mon Nov 24, 2014 4:19 pm

Hi hey hello,

Welcome to another of 'Joe's 3 C's' :D

In these posts I will try to bring you something Creative, Something Cool and something Commercial.
The format for these 3 things will vary, from images, videos and websites to unique applications, tips tricks and tutorials. Mostly print or 3D related but some things may be thrown in just because they ought to be shared (probably in the Cool part)!
There will be some terrible jokes thrown in at the end too!

Being a bit of a geek for all things design related, hopefully I'll be able to find some interesting bits and bobs to share with you!

Quote of the Day :ugeek: :
Lose an hour in the morning, and you will spend all day looking for it.

- Richard Whately, English writer

Something Creative...

A Cool and Creative mix of digital visuals from a phone and a printed garment to kick of with this week!

Digital Dudz offer a combination of garment and phone App which make a really Cool output, check the video out here

This is something that you could quite easily replicate and/or modify to suit your own ideas and use your digital printer to create the garments!
They also do masks...get Creative!

Something Cool...

Some of you may have seen these awesome old-fashioned super heroes doing the rounds on social media and certain design sites online:

I think they look great!

The creator Sacha Goldberger says:
Super flemish

What if Superman was born in the sixteenth century?
And what if the Hulk was a Duke?
How might Van Eyck have portrayed Snow White?

Sacha’s discovery of these characters, which goes back to childhood, gave birth to a desire
to re-appropriate them, to take them back to a time forming the cornerstone of modern western art. Sacha wants to confront these icons of American culture with contemporary painters of the Flemish school. The collection demonstrates the use of 17 century techniques counterpointing light and shadow to illustrate nobility and fragility of the super powerful of all times. It also invites you to celebrate the heroes of your childhood. These characters have become icons to reveal their humanity: tired of having to save the world without respite, promised to a destiny of endless immortality, forever trapped in their character.
The superheroes often live their lives cloaked in anonymity. These portraits give them a chance to « fix » their narcissism denied. By the temporal disturbance they produce, these images allow us to discover, under the patina of time, an unexpected melancholy of those who are to be invincible.

As science fiction meets history of art, time meets an inexhaustible desire for mythology which is within each of us.

Something Commercial...

Employers often want their workforce to be Creative, as they know that Creativity often leads to the best and most unexpected ideas.
However I am a firm believer in the message of this graphic:

You cannot force Creativity but you can provide an environment where it is nourished and promoted.

Live by the ethos you want spread in your company/workplace and great things will come!

That's all for this week's Joe's 3 C's!

Cheers Alan! Hope the jokes went down well (not that you really get to know on a radio show!?).

I really want to try my own version of the Digital Dudz T's, wish I had seen them before Halloween! Might try and make one for the Creative Centre.

Might also print that wall graphic and stick it up next to my desk ;)
