Joe's 3 C's #56 'Rainbow Chapel, Sunglasses, Boats'

Post by Joe Wigzell » Mon Nov 16, 2015 9:47 pm

Hi hey hello,

Welcome to another of 'Joe's 3 C's' :D

In these posts I will try to bring you something Creative, Something Cool and something Commercial.
The format for these 3 things will vary, from images, videos and websites to unique applications, tips tricks and tutorials. Mostly print or 3D related but some things may be thrown in just because they ought to be shared (probably in the Cool part)!
There will be some terrible jokes thrown in at the end too!

Being a bit of a geek for all things design related, hopefully I'll be able to find some interesting bits and bobs to share with you!

Welcome to number 56 of Joe's 3 C's!

I am currently sat in Dublin airport after spending a bit of time training over in Ireland today, Guinness in hand and watching the Ireland Bosnia-Herzegovina game! Time to catch up on some overdue 3 C's...

Something Creative...

To kick off check out this Creative and vibrant Rainbow Chapel in Shanghai! Something that you could create using printed clear window films/frost:

The façade of the building appears to be kaleidoscopic as it comprises of 3060 elements, using 65 different colours and mixture of both transparent and semi-transparent glass. As the sun moves around the structure and the lighting changes so does the effects of the glass on the interior; creating a clever moving instillation. This effect brings the chapel to life.
I love the idea of using the sun and a circular room to create a new venue experience with a modern feel.
Over the years of operating the museum park we experienced an increasing demand to have a new type of venue that caters to the Chinese public, now avid for living a creative life, gathering new and exciting experiences and mixing art and lifestyle. There was a lack on the Chinese wedding market that mainly offers city centre locations and classic settings and we went on to fill that gap.

Something Cool...

What's Cooler than a fresh pair of shades? Why not make your own to stand out from the crowd? And you don't even have to do all the tricky design work either thanks to to MircoSlepko over on Instructables.com.

Got an MDX? Go have a look at his tutorial along with downloadable files for creating your own set of Diy-Ban wooden sunnies!:

Something Commercial...

What's the difference between a hippo and a Zippo?

One is really heavy and the other is a little lighter.
