Joe's 3 C's #60 'Imagination, Sink Mouth and a View'

Post by Joe Wigzell » Tue Sep 13, 2016 12:51 pm

Hi hey hello,

Welcome to another of 'Joe's 3 C's' :D

In these posts I will try to bring you something Creative, Something Cool and something Commercial.
The format for these 3 things will vary, from images, videos and websites to unique applications, tips tricks and tutorials. Mostly print or 3D related but some things may be thrown in just because they ought to be shared (probably in the Cool part)!
There will be some terrible jokes thrown in at the end too!

Being a bit of a geek for all things design related, hopefully I'll be able to find some interesting bits and bobs to share with you!

Quote of the Day :ugeek: :
A bee is never as busy as it seems; it's just that it can't buzz any slower.

Welcome to number 60 of Joe's 3 C's!

So it has been a busy busy summer and I feel that I have neglected my 3 C's, so here we can finally kick off with number 60.

Something Creative...

Here at Roland DG we are all about Imagination, and in particular 'Transforming your imagination into reality'.
A little while ago I created a new sample for our Creative Centre, and just got around today to installing it!

It is a sheet of acrylic that was cut and engraved on our EGX-600, and then using the LEF-300 I printed into one of the text recesses to add a distinctive highlight:

The final piece was then placed into an LED illuminated wall display mount.

A little mix of technologies to create a bespoke graphic display, which now sits in the reception area of the Creative Centre!

Something Cool...

A couple of weeks ago I added a new application in the gents toilets at the Roland offices - something simple and easy to create, a sink mouth!:

It would be easy to create a range of these sized for generic sink sizes, perhaps as an application to promote kids washing their hands or brushing their teeth? Just an idea, but something that could work as a commercially viable application!

Something Commercial...

I'm sure there are so many people out there that have to put up with a crappy view from either their workplace, or home. One of the problems of living inner city or working on an industrial estate.

One way to perhaps help with this issue would be to add a large graphic of your favourite view to bland or boring surfaces/views:

As you can see in this image it would also help with covering temporary obstructions such as building site hoardings.

--------------

That's all for this week's Joe's 3 C's!

Anybosy else created anything interesting this summer? Comment below if you have!

Joe's chuckles...

My dad has suggested that I register for a donor card. He’s a man after my own heart.
