Roland SC-500 SOLJET vs. GX-24

Post by sap » Wed Oct 30, 2013 12:51 pm

I'm on the lookout for a cutter. I'm new to the plotter-world so i need a little advice :)

I need a cutter, which can handle daily production without breaking every other day.

I have found a cheap Roland SC-500 SOLJET, that has been converted to use ECO-SOL MAX ink.
I have no clue what this means, but i guess its because, its old technology converted into something more modern?
I dont realy need the printer function, and it seems like the price rises quite a bit, when both cutting and printing combines.

I have also been looking into buying a new Roland GX-24, which people seems to like alot.
It seems to cover my needs, but i cant realy tell if this is on the brink of being a "hobby" machine, or if its a professional machine.

I have no experience using cutters! so I could use some advise on what to buy :)

With your requirements - definitely a GX.

SC-500 is a hybrid inkjet print & cut with maintenance needs like a solvent inkjet.
Roland Dealer since 1993
