Primer for anodised aluminium (LEF)

Post by casementsigns » Thu Jun 28, 2018 11:21 am

Can anyone recommend a decent primer for UV printing onto anodised aluminium? Tried Fragrant Print Bond which helps, as does a matt lacquer, but it's still easily possible to scratch off the print! (Using EUV4 inks)

I've seen that SEM one recommended, unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available in the UK. Don't really want to import a can from the US but I will if there's no decent alternative!

I have SEM in stock so you don't need to put it through customs but this is only good for fully printed areas at it leaves visible residue. Can't treat a pen for example. I would recommend trying AFTC Primer 101.

Thanks, I would be interested in the SEM for a different job, assuming it also works well on acrylic type materials? Please PM me some details.

Any idea where to get AFTC Primer 101 in the UK? Do you sell it? Found a Belgian site, not sure if they deliver to UK yet!

also, has anyone found a use for Fragrant Print Bond?! Everything I've tried it on, it's helped a little but not enough to really be useful!

I use the print bond v2, its actually great with glass as long as you are doing full coverage. Makes your eyes water though!

Yeah, I take it you bought it some while ago? I contacted QPS, the Nazdar distributor, and they said they don't do it any more (possibly Nazdar don't make it any more?) Or are you buying it somewhere else?

The fragrant print bond is the same as the V2...just not going to give you a wavey head in enclosed areas!
They work well on a lot of plastics, acrylic etc from my experience-also had good results on some metals.
Best for metal I have found though is from Bohle

I managed to knock about a quarter of a bottle all over me, my desk, the floor etc.... Eyes were watering for 2 days from the smell, despite fans etc .... I don't remember much about those 2 days :D
