laminating stickers should it look like this

Post by Drunknspike » Thu Apr 04, 2019 10:07 pm

hi just bought a manual laminator to start making my stickers laminated just had my first go with a spare sticker i will mostly be using meta mark md5 to print and iv bought the md5 clear gloss to laminate with and to print stickers for windows so they can go on the inside of cars but for the test its on a chrome vinyl and i have noticed a pitted effect once Ive laminated see images attached would you say its because of the md5 clear gloss being printable and that's the pours in the vinyl that soak the ink or is it just the glue of the vinyl and normal to have this or have i put the pressure of the laminator too hard ? or should i have just bought the metaguard 700 laminate ? thanx in advance (ps ive never bought a laminated sticker either so not sure if its normal)

difficult to see but looks like whats called silvering a problem with cold laminating should go away after a few days its lots and lots of tiny air bubbles.
more up market laminators have heat assist 40 deg which softens the glue to stop it, the silvering is only a real problem if handing to customer straight away.

as a by the way .. the silvering can affect the eye for registration marks rubbing over the mark with your finger nail should make it clearer or a squeege.
