thanks Ryan i am struggling with photos as printed VS540 to dark compared to my old machine SC540 which prints what i am expecting from the PS screen.
what profile do you prefer in versaworks for satin photo grade paper.
general graphics seem to be fine and print as i expect even when i have converted the graphic to a jpeg for ease of the rip handling the complex components.

On the subject of canvas printing, can anyone advise of the best print profile for the polyester style canvas for black and white prints. No matter what I do I always get a brown tinge with mine and would love to print proper black & white.

Any assistance would be mucho appreciated. New to forum so not sure of rules and regs on saying send me an e-mail?!?!?

Good Morning Neil and Welcome to the Forum.

The first port of call should be the Company that supplied you the canvas. They should - have media profiles in place for you and all their other media's as well?

Let us know if you still have issues. There are settings you can use - but it is always best to use media specific if they are available.

Thanks Adam.

Supplier wasn't too sure if I'm honest, just thought I'd try and seek out a generic profile for a polyester matt material (280gsm). Any thoughts?

Are using roland spot colour. I have problems with black until a wise man (didn't say old! Ad) showed me the difference between coral black and roland black.

I don't do much canvas printing at the moment so can't help with profiles.

Hi Neil,

Are the canvases printing using vector or raster?

If the artwork is rater and is true grayscale then printing using the density control only colour management may keep it closer to the original colour.

There are several profiles that i would try using, start off with the generic profiles THT or TTRH, then if the colour is too dark try SPCVB, there are also other profiles available for canvas materials from our download site.

As Kai has mentioned, the brown tinge will be due to colour management seeing other colours rather than just black in the file. The best option is to convert to a greyscale image, but can you can trick the settings by trying different colour management in VersaWorks. Density control only usually works, but you may also wish to try sign & display.

Hope this helps.
