Roland LEF-20 UV - Ink consumption job log

Post by jokewouters » Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:29 am

Hi

I'm trying to calculate how much our Roland LEF-20 UV printer has consumed.
I found the job log and exported the file. Now when I make a total sum of the white ink consumption it's only 1.939 cc but we already had to replace the white ink (and gloss). Which contains 220 cc ink each.
Am I calculating it wrong or is the job log showing wrong ink consumption?

I don't know if it matters but we always send a use full pdf in print area size (508 x 330 mm) and then clip away the empty area in Versaworks.

Hoping someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!

Can you post a screenshot showing the usage in the job log, also is this on VersaWorks or VersaWorks Dual?

Here's a screenshot from the job log in VersaWorks. (I deleted the job names for discretion)
It's not the whole job log because it's too long for the computer screen.

I believe it only keeps 100 jobs in the list, and of course there is cleaning, which if you are using white everyday will consume a full white and gloss cartridge in a month.

Looking at the Job log, you haven't used much for the jobs at all, the initial ink fill will use quite a lot of the cartridges to begin with and then the cleaning the machine does would like account for the change of cartridges.

Aslo have you updated the firmware to the latest?

Note that the printer uses quite a lot of white and gloss in the first white print of the day (8h interval). So if you print one white job a day you will waste many milliliters of white and gloss ink extra.

No new circulation/discharge will be performed if you run a new white job within the next 8 hours.

So if we don't print within 8 hours the ink circulation will be lost?
This explains a lot because we printed most of our jobs with white ink but almost never within 8 hours interval. There was always more than 8 hours between two jobs.

What I understand from this is that we should collect all our print jobs and print them one the same day? Not one day at a time or week after week.
Otherwise we will lose the ink circulation?

It's more the ink discharge rather that circulation, if you bunch jobs together it will be better.
