Leaking Sponges.....

Post by Matt Roberts » Fri Apr 07, 2017 1:07 pm

Hi All,

Yesterday night all of a sudden the printer (SP540i) stopped printing any colour, and eventually after not having any joy I decided to give it a clean, and found that there's obviously a modest but clearly bad leak from somewhere. As you can see there is ink pooling at the base of the sponges, and it's run down into the "pan"/bottom of the printer.

I actually doubt that's the reason for the lack of colour, but either way it's clearly very worrying.

I'm happy to admit I'm a total idiot about stuff like this, I've had the printer for almost exactly a year, and in that time I've not replaced anything and only given the heads and blades a swabbing once before.... I'm hoping it's a simple issue of something needing changing or whatever, any thoughts would be great!

Hi Matt,

It looks like the ink could be coming from the pump and one of the tubes has come off.
