Precious Metal Engraving

Post by MemoriesForKeeps » Mon Aug 05, 2019 3:26 pm

Hello All!

My wife currently runs a business using a process of manufacturing custom stamps to put handprints into silver jewellery pieces with the use of precious metal clay. However the process is very time consuming so we are looking to get an engraver that could take over most of the process and mark the handprint directly onto a blank piece. We are looking for a machine that can achieve:

Deep engraving (up to 0.5mm) into sterling silver and gold
Handle pieces of jewellery sizes approx 1 x 1cm up to 3 x 5cm
Produce detailed small engravings
Possible future use for engraving acrylic

I have been researching a lot and a lot of the machines hint at being able to do this but haven't seen any actual evidence. I have seen online:

EGX-350
2300A

Does anyone have any experience in this or can suggest a better machine?

Apologies if some of my terminology is off but this is all new to us :)

The EGX-350 or the latest model the DE-3 would be suitable for this output. You would also be able to engrave acrylic.

Thanks Kai,

What about the EGX-300? 350 seems to be rare to purchase used but there seems to be quite a few 300.

The reason I chose the EGX-350 and the DE-3 is due to age the EGX-300 stopped being sold about 10 years ago and is no longer supported with parts, it was also only supported to Windows 8.
