Hello everyone
I have just become the proud owner of a 2nd user Roland CAMM-2 PNC-2200 engraving machine, which will be ideal for my railway modelling hobby.
The machine has parallel and serial inputs, I intend using the engraver with my workshop old laptop which has only USB connections and runs Windows XP Home Edition.
In an attempt to get it all up and working I have bought a USB to serial adapter lead that is fitted with a Prolific chipset.
I have downloaded DR. Engrave and am getting to grips with it.
I've installed the windows XP driver from the Roland website, device manager shows that the USB serial adapter is on COM18, please could someone help me with getting the laptop to see the engraver?
Any help gratefully received, it will be great to get it all working.
Regards
Brian

You would need a serial crossover cable (Null Modem) to get the machine connected alongside your USB to Serial cable.

There are a LOT of counterfeit prolific chips out there that are just junk!
Using a laptop you don't have much choice (to bad it wasn't a desktop with serial/par pci card installed)
I wrote software for your Camm2. Search youtube for Tux Plot.
I use three camm2 engravers including a 2200.
