New EGX-350 Engraver

Post by RCSOEngrave » Mon May 21, 2018 4:54 pm

We just purchased an EGX-350 engraver to replace a 30 year old engraving machine. I have no idea how to use this thing!!!!!!! Does anyone have any tutorials from a newbie perspective??

If your going to be using the supplied software, engrave studio, there are a few tutorials on you-tube.. but... the software is a re badged version of vetric vcarve. and there is a excellent website full of tutorials, that will help you make the most of engrave studio.

http://www.vectric.com/products/vcarve.htm

the Roland website has a few useful tutorials, taking you through the whole design, and setting up the machine, to the finished product.

I just got access to my workshops egx-350 and its sodding great.

Mostly engrave name tags (metal and plastic) as well as some door markers.

Then it's easy. Just hammer it. Start with 1 mm Z-down and max feed speed it can take without killing the spindle speed (also max). Then increase or decrease as needed.

Metal tags are different tho. I assume you want to use a diamond scraper. Just use the speed the software recommends automatically.
