EGX-30A Overlapping issue during engraving

Post by AMG » Tue Mar 19, 2019 8:46 pm

Hello, I'm facing a new issue with our EGX-30A engraving machine that we've had zero problems with in the five years owning it, until now.
We use this primarily for name badges, and lately when we go to engrave a name, sometime during the engraving process it appears to backtrack and engrave over a partial letter that has already been engraved.
Please see the image for when attempting to engrave the following: Tyler W.

Any reason why this may be? This is a repeating issue and I cannot afford continuing to trash my material trying to troubleshoot the issue by rebooting, etc...
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

It looks like the plate is moving, how is it held?

If not this which software are you using?

We have the 11" x 7" Seklema stick mat on there, and it is brand new.
The material (as well as the software, for that matter) is the same we've used since we bought it, and is always in the same position I placed it in before production once the engraving is done, so it's not that the material is moving.

We have the software Scott-Tripoint and Scott-Autograver Ver. 9.7

The strangest thing is that our computer used for engraving isn't even connected to the internet, so it couldn't have been messed up via some automatic update. It is just a perplexing case all around since we've never encountered this issue before

For a test run it with the Roland software Dr. Engrave to see if the same occurs, it is likely down to a setting that has been changed.

Thank you for your responses in assistance with this issue, I was able to adjust the depth of the engraving tool slightly and that has appeared to fix the problem.
Thanks, again, Kai!
