MDX-540S Z0 Sensor NC or RML command

Post by viteo » Tue Nov 20, 2018 12:28 pm

Greetings.
Our machine model is MDX-540S.
The machine has a Z0 sensor and I can execute the routine from handy panel or Vpanel, but I want to know how to execute it from RML or G-code (like G38 in LinuxCNC or G31 in Mach).
My task is to measure the curvature of metal surface. Yes, it is possible to do it by hand with Z0 sensor and write down the coordinates on a paper, but I want to automate this process.

I want to write something like that:

Code: Select all

G0 Z1
G1 X0 Y0 F35
G?? Z-1 F5 (send probe command and stop at contact)
#500=#5422 (save coordinate to local variable)
....
#100=[#511+0.7*#500-0.7*#511] (use some interpolation to compensate curvature)
G1 X0.5 Y0.5 Z[#100+-0.0760] (and send it to compensated Z coordinate)
Another idea is to connect a simple microcontroller to the spindle and the detail that will signalling about electric contact (hand made Z0 sensor), but in that approach I have to send movement codes manually and somehow collect position data. In that case I'm looking for usb-protocol description or printer-driver API.

Any help is welcome. Thank you!

Hi,
The Fanuc Macro # commands are not supported within Roland RML or NC Code.

well, I probably can do the same without #macro, but the question is still open

Code: Select all

G0 Z1
G1 X0 Y0 F35
G?? Z-1 F5 (send probe command and stop at contact)
... (start spindle)
G1 X0.5 Y0.5 (send it for a short distance)
G0 Z1
... (stop spindle)
G?? Z-1 F5 (probe again)
etc

There are no user commands to interact with the Z0 sensor, all this is controlled by internal firmware.
Sorry.

Any chance to find driver API description? DLLs have a lot of exported functions with meaningful names, but it would be better to obtain any information about it, not just blindly trying to reinvent the wheel.

Any help, please?

Well, I guess they just ignored your request.
