We cut a lot of circular objects on our MDX 540 and srp player. Some of these are quite big around 300mm diameter so we're using an 8mm dia tool. I've just realised that the objects aren't getting cut completely where the circle of the object comes closest to the square of the border, this is particularly obvious with low profile conical shapes that taper to nothing towards the edge. It looks as though the tool path won't re-enter that boarder area so with large diameter tool we're loosing that bit. Even though the tool can easily cut the whole object it doesn't, am I missing something in SRP player?
ps the ability to have a border that follows the profile of any object rather than being square would be on my wish list for future incarnations...

Ignore all that, I had changed to a larger diameter tool than the one selected by SRP, ignored the warning about border size but I still can't see how border size can be changed after changing the tool size.

Geoff
Did you see you can go back to the top of the process and change the margin.
It requires a size larger than the model plus the tool diameter all around.

Thanks Patrick, I didn't, away at the moment but will have a go later this week, other than that all is going well... a few ridiculously small tools snapped with metal but we have to learn what's possible or close to possible!

Patrick,I've found that now thanks.
Andrew, yes all going well, by reducing gforce and speed we've been able to use some pretty small tools direct to metal 0.1mm engraver with 10 degree angle, we've also been getting some really good results with a 0.5mm ball cutting epoxy but giving a really good finish. Beyond that we're in the process of cutting a very large object in bits (not a body

)
