MDX-40A + ZCL-40A

Post by Dnalor » Thu May 14, 2015 11:15 am

After importing different models to SPR, the minimum workpiece looks to
be ~107mm, even with the material limitation disabled in preferences.

Is this true? I'm wanting to cut very small parts from a 60x40x12 billet.

Hi Ro,

In SRP Player, when using the Rotary axis you have by default settings to make sure you do not collide with the clamp vice and tailstocks on either end of your billet of material.
We obviously recommend to keep these safeguards on, however if you are familiure with the machine, and are confident you know what you are doing you can turn these off.

An example of the limit initially.
And now with the limitations turned off.

You can do this under the preferences section in SRP Player.

So you can cut from a small block, however you do have to take into account that the MDX-40A has to cut the billet and not the clamp, so you will always need a little bit more material to hold in the clamp and tailstock if used.

Hope this helps?

Just a point to note.
MDX-40A can use ZCL-40 or ZCL-40A.
Make sure you select ZCL-40A, as ZCL-40 is a much smaller rotary axis.
