Creating a 2 part mold in Modela Player4

Post by Mark_S » Tue May 19, 2015 5:22 am

Hi, Just installed Modela Player4 and I am trying to figure out how to do a two part mold. Does the software help you make a "top" and "bottom" mold of an object or do you have to cut your object in half and bring each piece in separately? Any words of wisdom, examples, tutorials or training videos would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,

If you have the object as a positive, then the easiest way is to create the negatives is in CAD and bring them into MP4. Just create a block in the CAD and subtract the object from it. You could also do both sides in the same block next to eachother, and so save time cutting (size permitting) on the machine by doing both together. Images below should help. This is the easiest way.

Create a 'block' of material

Subtract the object from the block
