RotoCAMM TS-400E
Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Well paolo8453, it only freaking worked! I have control of the machine and everything seems to operate as it should. I am stunned!!! I'm so grateful for your help on this. This is fantastic.
Total cost of the CNC Engraver including petrol for collection, a new software cd, and a Serial plug - £30 approx - result!!
Now to make some sawdust....
Seriously, thank you. So kind for you to give your time to helping me with this.

Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
No probs. I was in the same boat when I got mine.
Other advice -
Take very good care of that handset - the machine wont work without it and you'll not get another one. They tend to get worn where the wire connects to the handset body.
Get a tube of good lube for the Z-Screw - not the guides but the 'lead screw' inside the cover. I tried all different grease and kept getting Z-Axis errors. This is THE ONLY stuff I found that has worked - http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/greases/1847967/
Other than that - ENJOY!

Hardware: TS-400 which seems to be the same as an EGX-400/600...
Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Good tips, thanks for flagging those. Have ordered that grease and will have a look at reinforcing the connection to the handset.
Will report back!!
Will report back!!
Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Have just checked the spindle hours - around 400hrs. Not too bad. Going to be interesting when it comes to belt, spindle unit and spindle motor replacement!
Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Barely broken in!
If anything serious breaks you're pretty much screwed. There's some very fancy AC motors in there that you just won't get anymore. Oh - and those motherboards...
It really is a pretty serious bit of kit and really well made so it should last.

Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Some positive news.
The EGX-400/600 was the basis of this machine, so as the EGX-400/600 was just discontinued production this year, then there should be those common parts available, within reason, till about 2023. That said, I do not know of any of our AC axis motors failing.

Ace, thanks Patrick. That's a relief!!
Re: RotoCAMM TS-400E
Merry Christmas everyone!
Finally got around to getting the TS-400 set-up and tuned to start CNCing. Have been following the Inset pack instructions but have hit a hurdle when it comes to skimming the sacrificial bed as I don't appear to have the skim6mm.dtd file that is needed in 2D Design to set the skim off. I don't suppose any of you have a copy of this file or can help me with how to set the skim off without it?
Thanks as always
Ben
