LPT to USB port

Post by fizzygas » Wed Sep 20, 2017 11:00 am

New to the forum

I purchased a older EGX300 the machine seems fine but cannot figure out how to redirect the original installation for the print port command LPT2 to the USB cable.
I am using a windows 7 32bit laptop windows 7 driver and DR engrave installed last week.
The machine came wih two USB to parallel cables that seem to be recognised when plugged in but do not show up in the device manager when plugged into the port and attached to the machine.
When i send the Roland printer a test piece it fails and shows the port as LPT2
1 / Is there a special cable i need to purchase over and above the ones i have.
2/ is there a manual way to switch to a USB port and is this shown in the COM ports or USB section in Device Manager.

So at present i can see Roland EGX300 listed in the Roland printer LPT2 port.
It seems a stupid question to ask but have spent hours trying different ways to move or change to no avail.
Any explanation would be gratefully appreciated.

In the driver change the port to USB instead of LPT2, then try printing again.

Normally there is no connection showing between the machine, although some of the cables will have software to install and this will then show up in the device manager.
