EGX-20 Set up

Post by Bully Darts » Thu Aug 08, 2019 10:38 am

Hi there,

I'am trying to set up my egx-20 on a HP laptop on windows 10, the egx-20 device is showing in the unspecified section of the devices and printers showing IEEE-1284, the egx is plugged in using a usb cable, i have used this egx before but on another laptop, any help would be great.

You probably just need to update the driver software for the unknown device in device manager, just right click on it and select update driver software, the IEEE-1284 probably relates to the USB cable not the machine, which possibly needs a driver for itself, but try using the EGX-20 driver first.

Is that the driver for the Engraver or the USB cable?, try removing the EGX driver completely and then plugging the USB in with conneecting the machine, it's likely that the issue is down to the USB to parallel cable.

Is the cable branded at all, if so have a look for a driver. The IEEE-1284 is a standard driver for the port, not a dedicated driver for the cable.

Failing that install the driver for the EGX-20 and then assign the port as File, then in the driver properties under ports change the port to USB and then test.

For testing just try Dr. Engrave and a basic rectangle.

If you are UK based you can contact the RolandCare team on 01275 335540, they can send you the software.
