Vehicle graphics
This is a mock up that I have done of a Ford Transit in Photoshop, with the help of Youtube. This van doesn't exist although the company belongs to a mate. As I am fairly new to this type of work, I was just wondering if someone could tell me how I would actually cut the blue and yellow stripes on the side of the van.
Would I use a scaled drawing or photo of an actual van and then cut the shape of the stripes on my cutter or would I use a large piece of vinyl to cover that area and use knifeless tape to cut the shape of the stripes.

Re: Vehicle graphics
Side stripes can't remember if there is a arc or not presume straight
Smother the area at the rear around 12 -20 inchs where the two colours are with application tape draw your shapes on then scan or photo with a ruller
Digatise your drawing and extend the open end the length of the panel to the door
If there is a arc in the panel line then bend your drawing to suit
As a note the bonnet and ft bumper will have to be cast quality vinyls and the text in the main panel should not line up with the top of the panel

Re: Vehicle graphics
Sorry Joe. I should have said I wont be doing it. It was just a mock up and I was just interested in how the side stripes would be cut in this type of job but thanks for your reply.

Hi Woolly, can I just ask you a question? You said the text should not line up with the top of the main panel. Can I ask why? I thought keeping it that way would ensure it was level. You guys are the experts in this so your answers are appreciated.
Re: Vehicle graphics
Good question there is a awful amount of vans out there that have mis aligned graphics in the older days escort transit vivaro panels are square but modern designed vans are not. Just look around and ask your self does that lettering look right or pissed bet a third of them look wrong.
The custom is one vehicle that has several body lines different angles which one do you use ??
On the drawings the angle the vehicle is shown as straight but the real thing does not sit like the drawing
Proof gut a oblong of paper or vinyl about 1800 x 450 and some magnets place on the side panel and look from several angles and try different positions you hopefully will see what I mean.
Enjoy
