Perf cutting with GR540

Post by cmykburnley » Wed Jun 24, 2020 9:08 am

Hi Guys

Ive recently bought a Roland GR540 and was using for both perf cutting and contour cutting stickers.

Up until last week I was managing to perf cut A5 safety stickers with ease.

And now it just wont work without either the stickers popping out so i lower the pressure, then it doesnt cut deep enough. or the machine just chews them up.

Im at my wits end with this now. Ive got 5k stickers to perf cut. And ive wasted over 30m of print.

What material and blade type are you using?

Managed to get it right after a call with Roland.

Has anyone ever heard of applying low tack app tape to the back of laminated vinyl prints and contour cutting the stickers. Through the laminated vinyl and backing sheet but not the app tape? It has been suggested to me so I tried it but can't seem to get a clean peel after

A high tack tape might work or the clear application tape, but haven't seen anyone doing it previously, you could double laminate, laminate and tape at the same time.

Your cutting setup would have to be dead perfect and the application tape may cause the vinyl to slip causing inaccuracies.

Which roland official blade would people recommend for perf cutting monomeric laminated vinyl?
