R-Works?

Hey guys I have the BN-20 and all up and printing with white ink configuration.

I have 2 jobs I am struggling with at present.

1st job is just a silhouette cut no printing just a cut around text that will go onto a T-shirt
2nd job is a print and then a cut around a more completed shape, i.e. cut around the outline as opposed to just a box

At present I do not have CorelDraw or Illustrator. I have done all designs in the past on Photoshop.

I have R-Works and VersaWorks but struggling to do the jobs on the BN-20. I have cheaper machines that I can get by doing them on but really wanted all this work on the BN-20

My R-Works says only compatible with Metallic config and throws up an error?

My question is can I cut and/or print/cut around images without paying Mega ££££'s for CorelDraw or Illustrator?

Thanks in advance

The R-Works is extremely basic and will not work in your instance, the cheapest software routes would be to purchase an older version of Corel/Illustrator as all recent versions will work (the Student/Home edition of Corel is not supported and isn't licensed for business use) or you could look at the designer version of Xara.

Thanks for that. I am not a business just a home printer for a hobby so cant justify the big money Corel Illustrator way. Thank you for your help I will look into it.

Have you looked into Affinity Designer? It's only €55 with a similar functionality as Corel Draw. It did not have spot colours a few years ago but that should be fixed by now.

It has a trial version, see if it's of use for you: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/

Thank you Mrtn. I am currently looking at InkScape which is free I have created a swatch called it CutContour and had 100% magenta. I can export as .pdf which I hope VersWorks will pick up, however only 5 mins ago downloaded so not yet figured out how to outline my image. I feel a Youtube morning coming on

Note that CutContour needs to be a spot colour with any tone (magenta is just a standard cutline designator). The cutting feature is defined by three parameters:

* type: spot colour
* name: CutContour
* thickness: hairline

Inkscape does not have the ability to design with spot colours so the cutting will not work. I have tried to get the RGB cutline in the Windows driver to work also but this still didn't work.

Thanks for the posting the video, I hadn't come across Affinity previously.
