Profile for canvas prints?

Post by idolux » Sun Feb 24, 2013 2:23 pm

Hi,
I'm using Versacamm sp 540i, with the latest versaworks rip.
Can someone recommend on a profile for canvas printing? There isn't a built-in one, and I've been using the SP-M in the meantime (not so great)...

Thank you :)

I'm not sure it's because of the profile, but I have nasty white lines when it's printing deep colors (pictures attached).
These lines are horizontal, along with the direction of the head movement, and doesn't occur while printing on vinyl, just canvas :(

Any ideas?

I have seen this appearing on canvas before. Try reducing/use a profile with reduced head speed. I'm not sure if SP-540i has W-pass profiles. It may help as well.

Hi,

Which canvas material is it? Normally for a generic profile I would start with THT or TTRH profiles, if you see the white lines appearing like before, try printing unidirectional.

W-pass (double pass) profile is a profile where every band is printed at half the pass step with half the ink coverage. This allows you to print media that does not accept ink well. You see it in Quality tab of VersaWorks.

Mode: CMYK (v) vs CMYK (W-pass)

We initially used TTRH for Canvas prints with no problems with OCEs White Matt Polyester canvas. We now use Metamarks MD-AC2 or MD-AC370 with the "Satin Canvas (ESM)" profile downloaded froim the US Roland site (we get all of our profiles from teh US site there is a much wider range)

On Roland@NET the choice for downloads are Default which is Japan and USA, updates to the devices and the program will come from the Japan site.

If you choose USA it will provide you with additional profiles for the standard media ranges that Roland DGA sell.

Please ensure that select "Only for the current printer model in use" otherwise it will try to download all machine and ink types which can be rather large.

We recently purchased a Roland TrueVis SG540 and we try printing on Roland Canvas material we get a green cast to it. We never had that problem on our old VersaCamm VP540. I downloaded the satin canvas profile from the Roland Profile site. This is killing our stretched canvas print business. HELP!
