Hey Steve, how are you finding the Roland Metallic? we have just bought one and I noticed you had an amazing pic with your metallic print? how did you get the blend with normal graphics like that?

Kind regards

Hi Ron,

Congrats for getting your machine!!

Those prints were produced using the CGS-ORIS Web Tuner Colour Management RIP Software, this is a high end proofing solution that produces stunning results on our printers. It does do some very special things with the Metallic and White channels in files, CGS also have a range of media specially designed and profiled for our printers.

If you would like more info on this just drop me a line/post.

Regards

Steve

Me again,

I realise my previos post was a bit vague, please find below more "meat" -

ORIS Color Tuner // Web is a high-end color management software for proofing and digital printing

The application uses a unique patented iterative color matching process with devicelink profiles

The software does not clip the gamut of the printer and makes full use of it, particularly when printing spot colors

Non-standard spot colors can also be iterated as a solid color or in any desired increment

The application uses the Adobe print engine and/or the ORIS RIP, which is capable of handling even the most complex files involving trapping, choking etc.

The software prints contone and/or halftone proofing using the final 1-bit tiff files (for instance Esko LEN)

Making the most out of the Roland VS, particularly with metallics, is not trivial. The software offers different print modes which can be selected to achieve the optimum result (max. gloss, max. TAC, depending on the media, max. sharpness)

Another substantial component is the media used. Most eco-solvent substrates are products designed for less demanding applications such as signage and posters. In an environment where color accuracy and repeatability are essential, a high grade coating with a wide color gamut is required. CGS has a full range of media, from high gloss paper

I hope this gives you more info, it is not a cheap solution but will guarantee you get the very best our of your printer!

Regards

Steve
