MPX-90 'Rub' marks left on engraved items

Hello,

We have had the machine since September and in October we noticed a faint rub mark while engraving text, which has gotten worse. Anyway to cut a very long story short the machine has been looked at by two engineers and sent back but it is still rubbing.

Has anyone had this problem? Is it common? also how did you fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

Many Thanks

Leah

Plenty of talk about this issue in previous topics. Feel free to browse.

Usually it's the nose guard, printhead or a mechanical issue with movement and/or alignment.

I've tried searching for it in the search bar but nothing else comes up... I typed in 'rub marks', 'MPX 90 rubbing' ... what should I search for?

I tried the green and blue nose cone, it's had a new head and it's had some parts changed when it went back to Roland ... They tried saying that this time it was because the head was dirty and to clean it, which I have started doing every couple of engraves but it still does it, so can't be that. Has anyone successfully fixed the problem?

Thanks

Hi

I have the same problem currently, I keep changing the nose cone for a new one and after a few days it starts to happen again.

Did you find a resolution to this?

Regards
Ben

If the item you are impacting on gives off any dust or swarf, then the nosecone can pick this up and cause the scratching, try cleaning the nosecone with a brush after each print.

Hi Kai

It is happening i think because i am engraving black painted lighters, and ofcourse the pin has to dig through the paint and this causes dust / residue.

What type of brush would be best for this? Would a wet wipe be more effective?

Thanks
Ben

replacing the nose cone fixes this. If you are doing this regularly then its best to clean the nose cone regularly. The cause is very fine bits of metal.

I find a bit of blue tack does the job. Stick the nose cone in the blue tack and all the very fine bits of metal will stick to the blue tack. ;)
