Yes, it's not ink starvation, I'd bet on media crash and resulting head damage. You might want to soak the captop in cleaning liquid overnight for a few times to see if it opens up.

These are actually not in the center, there are two passes of nozzles there.

Soaking with a swab won’t help you here. You need to turn off the printer, move the carriage away from capping, soak the captop and push the carriage in place. Then check back the next day.
