Registration Marks For Cutting Not Recognised - Roland VP540i

Post by Wallchimp123 » Mon Jan 22, 2018 10:36 pm

Help please!!!

Yesterday I printed off a couple of jobs and I applied registration cut marks in versa works so that I could print yesterday, allow the prints to dry and then cut today.

Tonight I have gone back in and reloaded the media into the machine and have run a cut but I have experienced problems.

The Rolands VP540i says that it cannot find the registration marks - what am I doing wrong?

The media has been loaded in the correct way with the rectangle being to the front right next to the print head.
Base point has been set with the blade being positioned over the front right printed circle.

This is the first time that I have attempted to cut a print a day after the print was run - what am I doing wrong?

All help most appreciated.

Regards,

Rachael.

Don’t move the base point with the carriage out of the capping position. The base point should only be set in feed direction.

So:
  • make sure the page width is sufficient
  • move the media in feed direction until the rectangle lines up with the cutting strip
  • set the base point
Do not use “Center on media” in crop mark jobs.

Thank you. I will give this a go tomorrow.

I had watched a video that said that I needed to move the cutting blade over the first round circle and then set the base point.

This is where I may be going wrong.

Thank you.

Yes, that's not necessary as the carriage moves out of the capping station and begins to look towards the left side. It will hit the first mark right away if it's lined up.
