PC Not Seeing Print Server

Hi All,

our Soljet 545ex crashed and we had to pull the plug. since then, we've not been able to send a job successfully to it.. says it cant see it at the IP address.

2 network cards in pc. (1 on mac network, 1 direct connection to Soljet)
IP address of PC on mac network 192.168.0.44
IP address of PC on direct to Soljet 192.168.2.101

IP address of SOLJET printserver (before crash) 192.168.2.99

now, in network connections it says 'network cable unplugged' on the soljet "network"

tried using the printserver guide to reset the RIP id, but the netserver tool cant see the printserver at all.
either just flashes green light or yellow, depending on what blue button configuration i press at start up

tried different cables, disabling the 1st netwrok card... using a different pc on a direct connection everything.

please could someone help.

Hi,

Firstly ensure you are using a crossover cable to connect with.

Then run the machine direct, this should then show the IP in Nettool.

You should then be able to communicate with the machinew and then set the IP for your own network.

Thanks Kai,

we are using the same cable as we always have (and worked previously), so can only assume this is a crossover.

Ive ran it direct rather than through a hub or router, but nettool shows nothing.

any ideas.

Try a new cable, it may be that you have been using a standard cable with your previous setup, the crossover is needed for direct running.

Failing that you can try resetting the printserver on the machine, by using the blue button on the network port, there will be instructions for this in the user manual of the SC.
