Roland CX-24 Error Message

Post by Suzanne » Mon Jan 23, 2012 11:27 am

Hello

We have recently acquired a Used Roland CX-24 and are in the process of setting up the cutter with a PC. We are running Windows XP and wanted to use Signcut Pro http://www.signcutpro.com
However, we're hitting problems with an Error Code - Er15:RS232Err - It happens as we switch on the machine, it asks which paper is being used, when we select roll, it then reads the roll for sizing and returns to the start then the error code pops up. All we can then do it switch off the machine and restart.

Is this a driver issue?

Hope there is someone out there who can help us, many thanks
Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

The error relates to the connection on the machine, are you using a parallel or serial cable to connect?

On the machine check the menu and ensure you are set to the correct type of conection.

Hello Kai

Thanks for the speedy response.

We're are using the serial port as I understood this was better to use than the parallel port and we have selected the COMM-1 connection.

If you are having issues cutting, make sure you have the latest USB driver installed.
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

I've used easy cut studio from http://www.easycutstudio.com , and it work fine.
This is what worked for me:

- Installed latest version of easy cut studio (v. 4.0.9.5)
- Installed latest version FTDI Chip USB Driver (2.2.18)
- (Baud Rate set back to 9600 instead of 4800)
- Connected cutter to Mac using USB cable that came with the cutter (no adapter used)
- Turn on cutter
- Open up easy cut studio
- Send a test cut
...and Viola!

Now, to see how hard it is to actually start cutting!

Hi Suzanne,

as you are using the serial connection, make sure that you have a serial crossover cable. (sometimes called a null modem cable)
